Joseph B Simons

Since Attorney Joseph Simons founded the firm in 2012, he has amassed a string of incredible wins. Attorney Simons believes in focusing on one practice area and doing it well. For him, it’s criminal defense. Joe has never been a prosecutor. He attributes his success to creative thinking, long hours, and smart collaborations with his team.

Attorney Simons enjoys the intellectual challenges that come with handling difficult and complex cases. The best part of the job is winning a case that other lawyers have deemed impossible; he compares his craft to that of a surgeon, as his clients have so much at stake. His clients are mothers and fathers, teachers and doctors, teenagers and CEOs. They come from all walks of life.

Sought after across the state, Attorney Simons has represented clients in over 90 courts in Massachusetts, and has been retained to represent clients in New York, Florida, New Hampshire, Maine, and Illinois. Based in downtown Boston, Attorney Simons has successfully represented clients across the state. His hard work as a Boston criminal defense lawyer has achieved acquittals and dismissals on serious felony charges, including Armed Home Invasion, Drug Distribution, Rape, Forgery, Embezzlement, and Carrying a Firearm without FID Card.

Attorney Simons has been recognized by his peers, earning a 10 out of 10 rating on avvo.com, being named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, and a “Top 100 Trial Lawyer” by The National Trial Lawyers.

Douglas Ryan

Doug Ryan, of counsel, got his feet wet serving Essex County as an Assistant District Attorney in Lawrence District Court and across the county, before joining the defense side at Simons Law Office.  He currently runs his own practice, but still teams up with us on certain complex criminal cases.

A native of Boston’s North Shore, Doug received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Fordham University in 2008.  He returned home to attend Northeastern University School of Law where he interned for the Hon. Margot Botsford, Associate Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court.

William Bentley

Attorney William Bentley, of counsel, has successfully represented clients on cases ranging from OUI to Armed Home Invasion. One of the first cases Attorney Bentley and Attorney Simons worked on together was a serious OUI Drugs and OUI Liquor case that looked nearly impossible to win at first blush. After several months of preparation, Attorney Bentley and Attorney Simons tried the case, which included several other charges, at the Boston Municipal Court, winning an acquittal on all criminal charges. Since then, Attorney Bentley has continued to achieve wins on behalf of clients across Massachusetts.

Attorney Bentley graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A in Business Management, and received his law degree from Suffolk University Law School here in Boston. Prior to law school, he worked in finance. When he’s not winning cases as a Boston criminal defense lawyer, you can often find him watching or playing sports. In addition to watching his son play soccer or baseball, Attorney Bentley donates his time to youth organizations and coaches baseball for young teens.
